Intro: Welcome to Klinker Brick Winery, Award-winning producer of Old Vine Zinfandel from Lodi. Great wine begins with a suitable climate and soil, both of which are found in Lodi. Sandy Loam soil coupled with the hot, cold exchange that graces Lodi from day to night creates a utopic environment to cultivate warm-weather varietals including Zinfandel, Cabernet and Syrah.

Description: The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is the inaugural vintage of the varietal. Sixteen months on French oak encouraged extraordinary dry and complex structure layered with aromas of blackberry, cassis and clove. Flavors of cherry, currant, leather and a hint of black tea couple well with the traditional and pronounced French oak.

Vinification: Appellation: Lodi - Mokelumne River
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon
Cooperage: French Oak
Harvest Date: October 12, 2014

Review: Klinker bricks, denser and heavier than regular bricks, grace many of the historical buildings in Lodi including the home of Klinker Brick Winery's owners, Steve and Lori Felten. This 2014, the inaugural vintage of their varietal Cabernet Sauvignon, spent 16 months in French oak and shows cassis, tobacco, licorice and vanilla notes wrapped in smooth tannins. It'll make a good partner for spice-rubbed beef tenderloin and balsamic-brushed bell peppers hot off the barbecue.
