Intro: Silenus Winery, with over 50 years of growing grapes in Napa Valleys Oak Knoll District, is committed to producing wines that define this unique terroir and our estate vineyard. The alluvial soils combined with the varied temperatures create perfect growing conditions for wines that are both elegant and nuanced with incredible depth. Silenus Winery remains committed to producing what we believe are the best wines from the best appellation.
Zeus, God of all Gods in ancient Greek mythology, had a son named Dionysus, God of Wine. At Dionysus’ birth Zeus appointed Silenus to teach his young son how to debauch and enjoy the finer things of life – like drinking wine! Together they traveled the world, planting grapevines and raising bees for pollination while always enjoying copious amounts of wine. They carried a fennel stalk topped with a pinecone as a sign of hospitality. The Silenus label incorporates these elements – the grapevine, the fennel staff with a pinecone and the bees.

Description: The majority of the 2016 Silenus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon comes from our estate vineyard located in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. This is a very special location adjacent to Dry Creek and the vineyard has a long history of producing extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignon. From the 1970’s through the early 2000’s a portion of the vineyard was sold to Robert Mondavi and used in his Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Mr. Mondavi would personally visit each year to inspect and review the vineyard.

Flavours: Intense ruby red in color with aromas of cassis, plum, black cherry, cinnamon and toasted vanilla. The wine dances on the palate with rich fruit flavors of raspberry, ripe cherry, and plum with cocoa and black pepper notes joining in. The rich fruit flavors evolve into a graceful finish loaded with red fruit and chocolate. The wine is lush while maintaining a bright freshness through finish.

Food Pairings: This wine is THE classic wine to pair with red meat and rich soft cheeses.
