Intro: On the southern shores of Lake Garda, in a terrain full of history and considered to be premier cru, stands the ancient Roveglia farmstead. This is the only surviving example in this area of 15th century Lombardy architecture. The surrounding land, hidden under vines, is a terroir whose history goes back 200 million years. Its the union of the ancient and clay soils with a native vine that produces an extraordinary wine called Lugana.

Description: Lugana is a wine region that straddles the Veneto to the east and Lombardy to the west in northern Italy. The name has many rumored derivations from local dialect and Latin, all essentially meaning lake in the woods, referring to its once heavily wooded landscape and location along Lake Garda. Born in the thirties, Tenuta Roveglia boasts the most extensive vineyard in the area of Lugana. Tenuta Roveglia has 125 acres of vineyards within the more than 245 acres of the estate.

Vinification: Made from 100% Turbiana (AKA Trebbiano) di Lugana.
Harvest:?The first ten days of October; picked by hand and put in small crates.
Vinification:?Without the skins; soft pressing of the grapes with extraction of a maximum of 50% of free-run juice. Fermentation in stainless steel vats.
Maturation:?24 months in stainless steel tanks.
Bottling: September/October of the second year following the vintage.?It is released onto the market after 6 months in bottle.

Flavours: It is a Lugana of great character, with an intense yellow colour and golden highlights; it is robust, yet silky. The grapes are carefully selected in those vineyards that are over 55 years old. It offers a particularly rich bouquet, where crisper, more mineral notes harmonize with those of ripe fruit.

Food Pairings: Because of its rich aroma with notes of toasty oak and an almond finish, it lends itself as the perfect accompa- niment to fish, pasta dishes, grilled meat and cheese.
Serving temperature: 10 to 12 degrees C.

Review: One of the benchmark bottlings for the denomination, this opens with enticing scents of fragrant white flower, white stone fruit and botanical herb. On the creamy, polished palate, fresh acidity brightens flavors of juicy honeydew, white peach and citrus while white almond and mineral notes accent the finish. Editors' Choice. Score - 94.
